HARDWAR In addition to its academic pursuits, UPES plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation and creativity through hackathons like HARD-WAR 2.0. This international hardware hackathon is a beacon of ingenuity, with every problem statement aimed at solving real-world challenges. HARD-WAR 2.0 serves as a pinnacle of interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork, bringing together innovative thinkers from various fields and disciplines. Participants are inspired to work collectively, explore new horizons, and iterate on hardware projects.

During HARD-WAR 2.0, participants engage in a wide array of tasks, including rapid prototyping, integrating sensors, developing firmware and software, designing user interfaces, and crafting persuasive project pitches. This event not only showcases the university's commitment to innovation but also provides a platform for students and professionals to push the boundaries of hardware ingenuity while addressing pressing real-world issues.

Hard-War 2.0 Phases:

Registration Phase: The participants are required to register for HARD-WAR 2.0 on Register and choose their desired problem statement to work upon, during the next two phases.

Ideation Phase: In this phase, the participants will ideate and brainstorm innovative solutions to address the real-world problem as per their chosen problem statement and submit it in a form of Word Document.

Execution Phase: Shortlisted teams from the Ideation Phase will move to the Execution Phase, where they will implement their ideas to develop the hardware and bring the idea to life. The submission in this phase will be in form of short video, showcasing the hardware and it's working.

Hard-War 2.0 Finale: The selected teams from Execution Phase will showcase their fully developed hardware solutions. The finale will be an excellent opportunity for teams to present their innovative hardware solutions to a distinguished panel of judges and an enthusiastic audience.

Location: National Teams: Ideation and Execution phase will be conducted in online mode. The finale will take place on 30th October, at UPES, Dehradun.
International Teams: All the three phases will be conducted in online mode. If teams wish to join us offline for the finale, they are most welcome to do so.

History

School of Computer Science, UPES, conducted a month-long international hardware hackathon, providing a platform to undergraduate students from national and international universities to showcase their innovative spirit through hardware and IoT projects. More than 70 teams registered themselves for HARDWAR 1.0 including 12 International Teams from Taiwan, Turkey, Tehran and Saudi Arabia and 61 Teams representing states across India. Teams worked on various problem statements allotted to them for over a month and submitted proposed solutions to a team of experts. During HARDWAR 1.0, students were provided with cutting edge technology, tools, materials, and mentorship, empowering students to turn their ideas into reality by designing practical solutions.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Director/Scientist ‘E’@Cyber Law & E-Security in Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India and was organized in collaboration with International University partners Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea and Unifacvest University Center, Brazil.

The evaluation of projects took place on 25th April, 2022, with our Academic Expert, Prof. Neeraj Kumar, Industry Expert, Mr. Vivek Shaily and Alumni Expert, Mr. Lakshya Gupta. The evaluation of national teams was done in offline mode while the international teams in online mode.
